For two weeks Billy Baker armed with the video camera, John Bayhi swinging lights & reflectors and I juggling scripts set off to eight different locations to video the ‘Just Be’ series for our PIER Groups. How stirring it was to watch each staff member creatively communicate their beatitude to you. The simple, yet powerful words of the beatitudes unfold through the wonderful diversity of the pastoral team at First. You will chuckle at Bruce’s ‘humble’ stories. When you see Kurt’s props you will understand why he is a ‘Pied Piper’ to our children. Dave’s dream scene will help you understand why the kids have so much fun with his games. You will also hear some deep and sensitive stories of Amber’s mother and Scott’s son. The locations, stories, scriptures & teachings will get you talking about the beatitudes just like the PIER Group I visited last night. I was amazed how the study flowed like a good movie. There was intrigue, emotions and laughter, stillness, struggle and resolution as each person divulged their plan to ‘Just Be Humble’. God, I hope every group has so much fun bringing the beatitudes to life because life is better in community.
